Georgia Tech will have a fuller complement of offensive line for its game Saturday at Duke. After not playing last Saturday against Virginia Tech due to an upper-body injury, offensive tackle Jahaziel Lee was not on the Yellow Jackets’ injury report released Thursday.
With Lee healthy, he can join tackles Jake Stickler and Bailey Ivemeyer, who started against Virginia Tech, Ivemeyer for the first time in his career. Lee has started six games this season at tackle.
With the guard trio of Parker Braun, Will Bryan and Shamire Devine (Bryan can also play tackle), that should give the Jackets seven linemen with significant game experience (including center Kenny Cooper) to face the Blue Devils.
There were three players listed as out on the injury report – linebacker David Curry, quarterback Matthew Jordan and wide receiver Antonio Messick, all with lower-body injuries. Coach Paul Johnson said Wednesday that Jordan has a foot injury, suffered against Clemson. Redshirt freshmen Jay Jones and Lucas Johnson are the backups behind starting quarterback TaQuon Marshall.
“Lucas, he’s done well,” Johnson said Wednesday. “I think you won’t ever know (without playing). You have to play in the game, but he does well in practice.”
This is Messick’s first time on the injury report. Mostly a special teamer, he has played in all nine games this season.
Guard Brad Morgan was listed for the first time as out for the season with a back injury. Morgan had missed four games with an upper-body injury before playing against Clemson and Virginia.
