Giancarlo Stanton has a wild training regimen


It wouldn’t be the MLB offseason without players posting videos of their crazy workouts and training methods.

As it generally goes, the closer spring training gets, the more intense these videos become. With a little less than a month until the first set of pitchers and catchers are due to report, it’s clear this year will be no different. In fact, we’re seeing players quite literally push their limits with some wild training methods.

We can add new New York Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton to that list after viewing this wild training video posted to his Instagram early on Friday.

You think he’s determined to make a huge impact in New York? The suggestion of 80 homers might be an exaggerated expectation, but he’s clearly looking to top the 59 he hit in 2017.

It would be impressive enough if Stanton was simply pushing two adult-sized men up a hill. That he’s doing it backwards, with his legs, while holding a pair of weights, is pretty much insane.

In the last two weeks we’ve also seen new Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Carlos Santana, Atlanta Braves infielder Ozzie Albies and Minnesota Twins pitcher Jose Berrios pushing cars around like they were nothing. Because why not?

Crazy.

We’ve grown accustomed to watching Bryce Harper and his crazy box jumps over the years. We’ve even just seen Andrew McCutchen hit 26 mph on a treadmill. Those are very impressive feats, but it’s clear players are going to continue pushing themselves in every way imaginable.
