DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. – Family and loved ones are remembering the life of a student killed by a Georgia tech police officer.
A campus officer shot and killed Scout Schultz in September. Police say Schultz refused to drop what they thought was knife.
Schultz’s family held a memorial and life celebration Sunday in Tucker.
‘This is very, very difficult to deal with, right when you’re planning a funeral for a child. This is the worst thing a parent can do, to have to deal with another death,” said Schultz’s father, Bill Schultz.
Schultz’s family collected donations for The Trevor Project, an organization that provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LBQT youth.
Schultz was a fourth year engineering student at Georgia Tech.
His mother says he was active in progressive causes. She also called him a brilliant student despite having medical issues.
