Georgia deputy arrested on rape accusations

A Gilmer County Sheriff’s deputy was arrested on rape charges following a GBI investigation, officials confirmed.

Sgt. Greg McClure, 53, faces sodomy and aggravated assault charges stemming from a Dec. 27 incident, the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office said. McClure, who was released from jail Tuesday, was off duty at the time.

Sheriff Stacy Nicholas contacted the GBI after he was notified of the allegations. Details of the accusations were not released.

McClure’s status with the department was not released.

He also faces interference with government property charges.

A Maryland track coach pleaded guilty to sexually abusing 42 underage boys, PEOPLE said. Carlos Deangelo Bell, 30, agreed to a plea deal, the magazine said. The deal means he admits to 27 counts, incuding sexual abuse of a minor. Bell initially faced 206 counts.
